The 2013 Metalepsis Projects edition is a set of leather accessories embossed with
geometric and structural landscapes. Each purse is carefully engraved using an intaglio etching press and a laser-cut plexiglass plate.
For us, the combination of an obsolescent printmaking technique with modern
fabrication technology led to a new medium in which to create spaces that hover between two and three dimensions and can be appreciated on either level. The embossed landscapes were influenced by Mayan archeology as well as explorations of monumental architecture, infinity and geometry by the likes of M.C. Escher, Josef Albers, Étienne-Louis Boullée, and Claude-Nicolas Ledoux.
